F.A.Q.
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive. If you
have a question that's not answered here, please contact
us.
Q.
If my boiler goes down in the
middle of the night, can you send a service tech to get my boiler back
on line ?
A. Yes! Delval Equipment offers service 24 hours a day, every day.
Q. Do you have a formal safety program?
A. Yes! Our field service personnel
regularly attend safety training classes, and use safety equipment when working.
We will email our safety procedures
to our customers upon request.
Q. I want to get a price on a new
boiler and a reconditioned boiler. Can you help me?
A. Yes! We sell used
and reconditioned boilers. We will also allow you to "trade in" your old Cleaver-Brooks
boiler for a new one.
Q. Do you rent boilers?
A. YES! Please contact
us for details.
Q.How often should I clean my boiler?
A. It depends on the fuel you burn,
the hours run, and type of duty your boiler experiences. The minimum is once
a year, but if the fireside or waterside is extremely dirty, you should be
inspecting and cleaning your boiler several times a year. Remember, soot and
scale are insulating materials and rob you of fuel dollars!
Q. When do I need a deaerator?
A.Any time you have an open steam system, where
makeup water is being added regularly, you are bringing oxygen into the system.
This
oxygen must be removed either mechanically (a deaerator), or with sulfite
chemicals. If your makeup exceeds ten percent, you will pay for the cost of a
deaerator
in a few years with reduced sulfite usage. Failure to treat for oxygen in
the water will result in pitting, scale and expensive boiler repair!
Q. We are converting our heating system from steam to hot water. Do
I need a new boiler, or can the boiler also be converted?
A. Cleaver-
Brooks firetube boilers
can be converted from steam to hot water. Some other boilers cannot be
converted.
Call us for an evaluation of your boiler.
Q. There are so many types of boilers available today that I am confused
as to which one is the right boiler for me! How do I make the right decision?
A. You
are correct: firetube, watertube, cast iron, copper finned tube, vertical,
horizontal, stackable, modular, Low Nox, condensing, non-condensing etc.
We have experience applying all of these boilers. Call us for assistance. We
also
have available, “The Small Boiler Book," which is available
for engineers and contractors to aid them in the boiler selection process.
